A Climate Vulnerability Index

The IMPACT-R Climate Vulnerability Index is based on different aspects, ranging from the usage of biomass for cooking to the dietary habits and water sources.

Considered questions

Energy Access

  • Used cooking fuels (wood, charcoal: highly vulnerable)

  • Need of collecting or buying cookig fuel (collect: highly vulnerable)

  • Location of water source (far from home, very vulnerable)

  • Availability of drinking water

  • Usage of storage tanks

  • Presence of problems with storage tanks

  • Main occupation of households head

  • Does the HH own land for farming or animals?

  • Are there any (small) children in the household?

  • Food insecurity: answer to the standard FIES questions

Methodology

The index is computed via a scoring point, assigning to each question - and to each possible answer in the question - a score between 0 anc 100. The scoring system is currently object of ongoign research and will be studied in more details throughout the project implementation and after its finalization. Details will be provided in an upcoming publication.
